HDPE
HDPE
High-Density Polyethylene, or HDPE, is a linear polymer made from ethylene through a catalytic reaction. HDPE is more tightly packed than LDPE and has a lower chemical resistance. HDPE can also withstand higher temperatures, being more opaque and complex than LDPE. It can withstand 120deg Celsius for short periods and 110deg Celsius continuously. High-density polyethylene is a great material for blow molding, such as bottles, cutting boards and trays.
HDPE Resistance
- Excellent resistance (no attack) to dilute and concentrated Acids, Alcohols, and Bases
- Good resistance (minor attack) to Aldehydes, Esters, Aliphatic and Aromatic Hydrocarbons, Ketones and Mineral and Vegetable Oils
- Limited resistance (moderate attack and suitable for short term use only) to Halogenated Hydrocarbons and Oxidizing Agents
